  • Act as a subject matter expert in a key area of immuno-oncology as member of a scientific strategy and development team, supporting the development of novel cancer immunotherapeutics
  • Establish the scientific rationale and experimental design of in vitro and in vivo studies to support the development of Affimed’s drug candidates and advancement of its ROCK® platform
  • Initiate and drive all aspects of translational research in development programs in close collaboration with the cross-functional program teams
  • Initiate and lead external research collaborations and ensure its deliverables in time, budget and quality standards
  • Present project status updates as well as new and innovative project ideas on a regular basis in meetings with different audiences, e.g. preclinical teams, cross-functional program teams and management
  • Integrate latest findings from key-relevant publications, supporting further development of ongoing as well as novel projects
  • Prepare and document regular team meetings and track progress, timelines and budget of ongoing projects


  • Degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in immuno-oncology-related area
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as responsible Research Project Lead in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry environment
  • In depth knowledge in tumor immunology / tumor biology
  • Experience in preclinical development of antibody and / or cell-based therapeutics desirable
  • Strong capabilities in relationship building with team members and external partners, ensuring successful collaborations
  • Experience in driving projects according to timelines, budget and quality standards
  • Excellent communication skills covering a broad range of audiences, including research teams, cross-functional program teams and management
  • Fluent in English (oral & written), German language skills desirable
