Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct all activities in the Preclinical Development department
  • Build, develop and lead the Preclinical Development team
  • Provide strong leadership to the Project Leaders, Non-Clinical Development
  • Define strategy for Preclinical Development in alignment with the Chief Scientific Officer and executive team
  • Contribution to decision making as member of the R&D Leadership team and the Chief Scientific Officer Leadership team
  • Ensure optimal operational execution of the Preclinical Development strategy across all programs and projects, generate and provide scientific data and rationales supporting Affimed’s pipeline development
  • Represent Affimed and its Preclinical Development work at international conferences

Requirements

  • PhD in Life Sciences or MD
  • Demonstrated leadership in Discovery/ Research and/or Early Development Programs for at least 5 years
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate complex scientific data and concepts to different target audiences (e.g. subject matter experts (SMEs), KOLs, senior management, Business Development, investors)
  • Ability to influence scientific community and to deliver Affimed’s communication goals
  • Proven ability to lead a functional group of SMEs in the field of preclinical development
  • Proven ability to design and execute strategies and plans in preclinical development
  • Full proficiency in English (oral and written), German language skills are a plus
