  • Establish the scientific strategy, rationale, and experimental design of translational research to support clinical development of Affimed’s drug candidates and to implement key findings from clinical studies to drive innovative adaptation of drug candidates
  • Initiate and drive all aspects of Biomarker analysis and translational research in cross-functional clinical development teams
  • Act as a subject matter expert in a key area of immuno-oncology as member of a cross-functional development team, supporting the development of novel cancer immunotherapies
  • Initiate and lead clinical sample analysis with CROs and ensure their deliverables in time, budget, and predefined quality
  • Present project status updates as well as analyzed data on a regular basis to different audiences (e. g. preclinical teams, cross-functional clinical development teams and management)
  • Support further development of ongoing as well as novel projects by integration of findings from publications and conferences


  • PhD; MD, DVM or MD/DVM PhD
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in clinical Pharmaceutical Research in at least one of the fields: Translational Medicine, Translational Science, Biomarkers or Clinical Development
  • A solid understanding of drug discovery, clinical development, e.g. working in a regulated environment, support of clinical document writing, Good Clinical Practice
  • In depth knowledge in innate immunology and hematological tumor biology, immune cell populations and cellular crosstalk within the tumor microenvironment
  • Experience in development of antibody or cell-based therapeutics is of advantage
  • Strong capabilities in relationship building with team members and external partners, ensuring successful collaboration
  • Experience in driving projects according to timelines, budget, and quality
  • Excellent communication skills covering a broad range of audiences, including research teams, cross-functional development teams and management
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and a team playing personality
  • Experience in working in a matrix organization is of advantage
  • Profound communication skills in English, both written and oral
